Here is a very small flavour of what's within just a few miles of Millstream House Bed and Breakfast in this wonderfully quiet south west lakes area:
Broughton is a lovely local market town, which provides a post office, bakery etc. Also great pubs and restaurants.
Muncaster castle, which has a range of activities all year round.
Swinside stone circle, at the start of Corney Fell.

Haverigg beach - fantastic sand dunes with views accross the Duddon Estuary to the Furness peninsula.
Wastwater - the deepest lake in England with access to Scarfell Pike, the highest mountain in England.

Coniston Old Man - simply magnificent.
The Duddon River, meandering from Seathwaite to the estuary.
Coniston Water - wonderful for sailing, canoeing, swimming and evening BBQs.
Black Combe summit - close by and is relatively easy to reach for most people.
